ABOUT BADGER'S BROOK WINERY
The soils in this section of the Yarra Valley are pretty lean and require grape growers to crop low and seek maximum flavours from low yielding vines. The initial plantings at Badger’s Brook took place in 1989. The initial planting was Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
In 1994-95, the owners took a serious interest in some more alternate varieties, which can only be purchased at the cellar door, these include Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier and Tempranillo.
We insist to make the wine all grow from our single vineyards and hand-picking for harvest. We focus on making beautiful fine wine and emphasising acidity and freshness and attempting to maintain moderate alcohol levels and bright aromas. Once we get the grapes to the winery, they are gently destemmed (or not) and moved by gravity to small open fermenters where they ferment with ambient yeasts and as few additions as possible. Many of the wines have no additions other than sulphur dioxide. To bring our customer a natural premium purely wine from Yarra Valley.
In Badgers Brook Wines, we also combine the perfect France cuisine with wines that our guests can enjoy it at our Tramonto Kitchen & Bar.
